Sky-chotomy

Location: Bloomington, Illinois

As soon as I stepped outside after work around 5:00pm today in Bloomington, I was taken aback by the incredible dichotomy of light in the sky; there was a very distinct line of clouds dividing north from south. I was immediately compelled to take pictures of the scene.

Awesome photos. This is from the Band of storms that formed from SW Tazewell county and extended NE into McLean County. There were cold air funnel clouds reports along this line too. The lowering in your picture is to ragged to be a cold air funnel..

I suspect instead it may have been a localized area where the rain cooled air was rushing toward the ground(downdraft) causing some localized gusty winds. Most likely below severe criteria.
