After the first line of thunderstorms passed through Groveland this morning I went outside to see if there was any damage to our brand new home. I took my camera with me, and as I stepped outside I saw some low hanging clouds that were moving pretty fast from the west. I started to observe them for a while, and then I saw the clouds start to look like a funnel. I started to capture the birth of a tornado. It formed quickly and then dissipated just as quickly to my relief. Thank God it did not touch ground.

This cloud came over my house, which is SE of Tremont. It was moving very fast, and was virtually the same shape as you have in your picture. Very wild!

That looks like a very convincing scud tag, but its always hard to tell from a picture if the cloud mass is/was rotating. But i do remember the rotation on radar looked to move right along route 9 in Pekin and just a bit south.

Making me believe further it was scud. Plus the area of rotation seemed to be wrapped in rain, making it hard to see. First Early morning storms, and now possibly late night high wind storms. Gotta love it!(I'm a storm chaser/spotter in Tazewell.

i wanna see another tornado in central illinois. i love severe weather and tornadoes so i am very excited about severe weather season next year

I live In Winnipeg Manitoba we had a severe tornado just 15 mins west of mb. it was a F5 it looked like a monster it caused lots of damage in the town of Elie I have never seen one but there are video tapes and I can't believe what I saw
