The Peoria Chiefs are riding a hot streak-
They'll look for their 5th win in a row tonight at O'Brien
Peoria's centerfielder David Macias just returned from a Big Time Call-up.
On May 4th David Macias got a message to see manager Marty Peavy...
Macias hoped it was good news, that maybe he'd been called up to High-A Daytona. He had been promoted but he wasn't going to Florida.
Chiefs Centerfielder David Macias said, "Pack your stuff up and go to triple-A a couple hours down the road cause we were on the road in Iowa."
David only spent 3 days with the Iowa Cubs, but less than 2 weeks later the phone rang again and Macias had earned a second trip to Triple-A.
Macias said, "I had a couple decent at bats no hits but I guess I showed I could play a little bit of defense, a little bit of 2nd base. And you know my second stint I ended up starting at 2nd base a few games."
Chiefs Manager Marty Pevey said, "It's just a higher level at the higher levels you don't learn anything new, you just are more constant. Right now he is probably one of our best glove men in the organization. It wasn't so much his hitting it was more of his defense."
While he was with Iowa Macias returned to Nashville, Tennessee where he played his college baseball at Vanderbilt.
Macias said, "One game I had like 30 people come to the game. All my former teammates, my coaches, some of my teachers. I was really fortunate to be in that situation to be able to go back to my hometown."
Last week David was sent back to Peoria, but he'll be ready when the phone rings next time.
