Peoria Notre Dame senior Abby Ferlmann is playing a lot of golf this summer. It's one big tournament after another for the top college golf prospect Ferlmann. But last week, Abby and her grandfather Dr. Frank Benningfield played in a extraordinary golf outing.

Abby and her grandfather teed it up in the annual Congressional Golf Classic. A tournament to support severely disabled soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. In their foursome, Abby and Dr. Benningfield played with a war veteran and Congressman from South Carolina.

The golf event and a private tour of the Walter Reed Hospital left a lasting impression on both the prep golfer and her proud Grandfather.
"It was the most humbling and memorable experience I've ever had on a golf course," says Benningfield. "I will never, ever forget this golf outing. It was nice to get to know more about the war," added Abby.

Ferlmann says seeing severely disabled veterans play golf has inspired her to play her best her senior year and to pass on the stories of America's true heroes--our soldiers!
