The Bloomington Extreme wrap-up the regular season Saturday night against Maryland. After making millions in the NFL...
One Bloomington Receiver now is playing for the love of the game.
It all started with a phone call between Bloomington Extreme Running Back SoSo Brooks and his friend former Cincinnati Bengal Peter Warrick.
Peter Warrick said, "He was like Pete man I'm playing in this league in Bloomington. I was like Bloomington? I don't know where that's at. He's like yeah I'm planning in Bloomington you should come play. I was like No.
Then he called me again.. and I said tell coach to call me."
SoSo Brooks said, "So I called Coach Carr and I said hey Coach Carr what would you say if I said Peter Warrick wanted to come play football for us. He was like SoSo call me back when you want to talk serious."
But he was serious and a few weeks later the Extreme coach was at the Airport to pick up the 4th overall pick in the 2000 Draft.
Kenton Carr said, "I went there and I was like please get off that plane...Please get off that plane. Guys say they are going to come and don't end up showing up. But he was there and ready to play."
Warrick's the most recognizable player in the Indoor Football League. Receiving fan mail with requests for autographs everyday. And when the Extreme travel the fans flock to him. Some of them looking to give him a hard time.
Warrick said, "We was playing this game and the dude came up to me and said Peter Warrick, you want to get these clothes from Dillards. I thought that was funny. He remembered when I got in trouble when I was going for the Heisman and that Dillard's incident. You know I thought that was funny. I scored a touchdown and I ran over like I was going to give him the ball I did like that, he jumped and I pulled it away. I thought that was funny too."
