Receiver Martin Ceisel is fourth on Wesleyan's all-time list in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.

Illiniois–Wesleyan quarterback Kraig Ladd doesn't always throw the ball to Martin Ceisel. It just seems that way.

"Some people will ask me why I throw to him all the tims," sais Titans quarterback Kraig Ladd. "Why did he have 10 catches for 150 yards out of my 250 yards passing. I always tell them the same thing. The reason I throw to him so much is because he gets open."

In last Saturday's season opening victory at Hope, Ladd completed 10 passes to Ceisel. And that's not even the most Ceisel's caught in one game. The senior receiver from Deerfield, whose been starting since he was a freshman, has evolved into the Titans' biggest offensive weapon.

"Kraig and I hit it off right away," said Ceisel. " He’s a really talented quarterback and I’m privileged to have someone like him throwing the ball to me. I don’t have a lot to worry about."

Ladd knew Ceisel was something special right away.

"My first career touchdown pass was to Martin. We were at Coe and we came back down and scored. He made a great play on a ball. I threw it up there for him and he came down with it."

Ceisel is fourth on Wesleyan's all–time list for catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns. And he's not just a student of the game. Ceisel is majoring in Russian and European studies, which make a 3–inch thick playbook seem like light reading.

"Its my heritage. I’m Slovak. My mom was born in the Slovak Republic, so that’s where my passion is, with those issues in that region. I don’t think you find a lot of European and Russian studies majors."

In the future receivers at Wesleyan will be studying him.
