Peoria's old quarter seems to be making a big splash in the river city.. Developer Pat Sullivan says the coalition between the several restaurants on the block has been wildly popular.

Visitors are given the option of trying out each places' food and drinks - and there's a common area to sit.

There's also live music provided, and an art exhibit every Wednesday.

The block's been a draw for large conventions and groups - like this Peoria High School reunion.

Sullivan says the hot weather has been a hassle at times, but it's still pretty comfortable down by the river. He remarks, "The street is shaded all the time because the sun sets behind the buildings - so at 5:00 on, even on the humid days we always have a nice breeze on the riverfront - so it's been comfortable."

Sullivan says they hope shutting down the street in the summer will become an annual event. They just need approval from the City Council.
