Peoria County may have gotten rain on Wednesday evening, but it was nothing compared to parts of northern Illinois that have experienced heavy rains and flooding.
Severe storms dumped more than seven inches of rain across the northern parts of Illinois last week, leading Governor Quinn to declare 12 counties disaster areas.
Speaking before the Senate Wednesday, Senator Dick Durbin said he's ready to stand by the people of Illinois to help put their lives back together.
"Homes must be rebuilt, mold and waste removed, possessions replaced or repaired; highways, bridges and other necessary infrastructure restored, and business reopened," said Quinn.
State officials continue to assess the damage which will be reviewed to see if federal money can be given to the area.
