Former First Lady Laura Bush will headline a fundraising dinner for Congressman Aaron Schock in September.
Mrs. Bush rarely speaks at political events. In fact, Representative Schock said his is the only Congressional fundraiser she will attend this year.
The 18th District Republican said he had been trying to get Laura Bush to come to Peoria for some time because of her popularity across party lines.
The event is the evening of Monday, September 13.
Tickets are $250 to $500. Call Schock's campaign office at 693-9393 to purchase tickets.
Other details of the event, like the location, are not yet known because the Secret Service must first give approval.
When then President George W. Bush delivered the keynote address at a Schock fundraiser in 2008 the event was held under a huge tent at Weaver Farms in Peoria.
