Green Party candidates Sheldon Shafer and Rich Whitney brought their campaign messages to Peoria area voters today.
Shafer is running for the 18th Congressional District seat held by Republican Aaron Schock.
Rich Whitney is vying for the governor's seat.
Whitney stumped in the downtown business district during lunch time.
He says Governor Quinn's capital bill doesn't do enough to create more green jobs.

"There was I think about 4 billion dollars for sustainable public transportation. We need to flip that around. Yeah we need to repair our roads of course but to constantly widen, widen and widen. That's not the way you combat traffic congestion. We need to create alternatives to the gas driven automobile," he said.

Whitney is also campaigning for better public transportation throughout the state, in communities of all sizes.
