Starting in April.. Central Illinois Sports Alliance will take over ownership of the struggling Dragon's dome.. Hoping to bring it back to life.

Pekin City Manager Dennis Kief says the change will do wonders for the local economy.

Pekin City Manager Dennis Kief says, "The spin-off benefit to the City of Pekin is more people attending events, more heads in beds at the hotels and motels, people eat at the restaurants generates local sales tax so it's really a win-win for the community."

Central Illinois Sports Alliance took over management of the dome back in January.. And now the company's General Manager Alan Tucker says they're already booking for the next two summers.. and they've even got some new ideas in store.

Central Illinois Sports Alliance General Manager Alan Tucker says, "We are planning on dividing the dome up into four parts so that four different activities can be going on here at one time. You have golf, soccer, baseball, softball, and maybe football and lacrosse at the same time."

Tucker also says he hopes to very the types of entertainment at the dome.. Instead of only featuring sporting events.

It should generate some more jobs as well.

They plan to hire a few people for the summer and considerably more next year.

Central Illinois Sports Alliance General Manager Alan Tucker says, "Right now we anticipate about 40,000 people coming through the dome and adjoining property this year. We think within two years that can turn out to be 300,000 people which would make a big difference."

Tucker says the name Dragons Dome will be no more...once they close the deal they will change the name to Pekin Dome or something of the like.
