Streator Mayor Ray Schmitt has died at the age of 68.
The LaSalle County coroner's office reports that Schmitt was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital by ambulance on Tuesday and later died. An autopsy will take place to determine the cause of death.
Funeral arrangements at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home are pending.
