The Twin Cities are getting a shot in the economic arm this weekend and next. The IHSA March Madness Basketball State Finals is underway.

This weekend the High School Girls Class 1A and 2A action is on the court. The Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau says the attendance at the games at Redbird Arena is about 25,000 for the two weekends.

And many people come from out of town. "This is one of the bigger events we host in the course of a year. Between the two weekends combined, between the hotel and restaurants and buying gas and the whole nine yards," says Matt Hawkins of the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau, "We are looking at over a million dollars at economic impact for the two weekends."
