A Peoria woman is dead after a car accident on Route 24 near Gridley on Friday afternoon.
The McLean County Coroner says 27 year old Summer Haynes was riding in a car that collided with an SUV.
She was not wearing a seat belt, and died from multiple injuries to her head, abdomen and pelvis.
Two other occupants of the car, including Summer's child, were injured and transported to a local hospital.
The condition of the driver of the SUV is not known.
Police say weather may have played a factor.
The coroner has ordered toxicology tests, and Illinois state police continue to investigate.

WOW.. This story had all my friends in Gridley wondering if I was the Summer in that accident. Hi my name is Summer and ironically I lived in Gridley all my life and moved to the Peoria area 5 years ago and my middle initial is L. I'm also 27. I can't believe there was another Summer L. out there age 27 and named her daughter the exact same name I want to use w/ my daughter when I have kids. MY heart goes out to the Haynes family as well as the daughter who has lost her mother. I will forever remember this story as it has a lot meaning to me being close to my hometown and having the same name and age as me.

This is a sad story. Maybe we should all consider the lesson and not worry about pointing fingers at people(race, gender, ect.) I did not have the privilege of knowing Summer, as I am sure of many of you, however, as humans do we not have compassion? How dare you write it was her fault. Were you there? Do you know exactly what happened? Until you answer yes to any of these - maybe we should just show compassion for Autum, McKenzi and the family of each. My prayers and support for everyone who is affected by this terrible accident.

Summer was an amazing person. Her seat belt would not have made one bit of difference since they were hit from the side. A little girl has lost her mother and McKenzi has lost her best friend and roommate. And to the jerk that said "white people can't drive" the driver in this case was mixed.. so what race can't drive..?

i think it is rude to be bashing this family on their loss. That is a very unfortunate thing that happend. Why can't people have respect for others. I'll bet she came from a loving family and had lots of friends who cared for her. It is a traggic loss and my heart goes out to the famalies affected by this unfortunate mishap. RIP Summer. I respect you..

The big thing here is she wasn't wearing a seat belt. So many people die because they won't wear them. Even my ever so stuborn sister refused to wear hers until she got hit and suffered injuries that wouldn't have occured if she wore one. She now wears one. Save your family and friends a life of sorrow and wear your seatbelts!

How sad that people have such a negative view on life that they would say such hateful things about someone they didn't know, weren't there, and don't have a clue what really happened. Just remember what goes around comes around. You should be ashamed of your self.

Consider family members and people in these times. It is not necessary to leave hurtful comments when people are going through a hard time. People make mistakes it is life and what we do, had it been you or a close friend I'm sure you would be empathetic to the situation. My prayers go out to the families and Keep McKenzi and Autumn in your prayers because they both have a long road ahead of them! We will all miss you Summer, you were such a joy to have around =) R.I.P

You should NOT comment on anything this tragic with such hate! You have the right to say what you want but how is it helpful to you or anyone else? You are just spitting out sexist stereotypes and showing as much disrespect to someone who has passed and their grieving family and friends. "Male drivers have a 77 percent higher risk of dying in a car accident than women, based on miles driven. "http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16698153/#storyContinued If you need to let out anger, get off the computer and talk to a professional. You obviously have mental issues.

Such a shame that anyone would say stuff about women drivers, its not just women out there that make the mistakes when it comes to drving in this kind of weather, the people up here arent use to it, they think snow means hurry up and get there, they driver faster here on this stuff than anywhere else ive ever lived at, Ive had my liscens for over 35 years and ive never had trouble drving on it, let alone a ticket or taken someones life knock on wood , its not about being male or female its about using common sense, good driving skills and having the grace of god behind you all the way to help you look out for those who show none of the above, its sad that a humans life was lost because of this, some peoples lost all sense of compassion when it comes to writing things in this story, shame on the ones who have lost it.

The SUV collided with an auto, but it doesn't say who was doing what. Sorry to bust your bubble anonymous but the woman wasn't driving, she was a passenger. People driving pickups and SUV's know they will probably survive a crash and the people they meet aren't important to them.
