A local veteran was saluted on Monday for his service to the country and the community. Army Veteran Robert Kaufman was awarded Illinois "Veteran of the Month" for December at a ceremony in Glasford.
Besides being very active in American Legion Post 35 in Glasford, Kaufman has come through for kids in Peoria County. He helped raise enough funds to send 130 young men to Boys State between 1988 and 2009.
