By WEEK Producer

Peoria School District 150 has declared an impasse in its contract talks with the teachers union.

According to a statement realeased by the school district, the deadlock comes despite 22 formal bargaining sessions, and countless other informal talks.

The district says it told the union's bargaining team last month that its proposal was the final offer...and the best it could in the current economic climate.

So district 150 says it will implement its terms for the teachers union.

It includes a wage freeze for the current school year and a modest increase the next school year.

Also the district is asking teachers to work one additional hour each wednesday beginning next school year.

Limitations on tuition reimbursement.

The possibility of fluctuating class sizes.

And teachers can be transferred within the district based on need.

The teachers union has scheduled a meeting for its members Sunday afternoon at Woodruff High.

Education is also depends on how hard students try and how their families support their education. I am not a huge Obama fan, but he did have it right when he said families also have to take responsibility for their children's education.

Coming from a family of teachers and having been a former teacher, sounds like you should try the job out if it is so easy. When do you pick up your unemployment check?

sounds like Trewyn from what you've said needs. 2 teacher assaults so far and daily abuse both mental and physical. the principal is clueless and blames all the problems on the teachers. not the convicts in training they call students. there was a reason he only lasted 1 yr at glen oak!

My child works for 150. The pay freeze is ok. The added hours, which equals a pay cut, is ok. It is the transferring that is an issue for my child. As it is my child is subjected to physical abuse by students on a daily basis. Bruises so bad that they last a week or more. Students are not suspended because 150 wants em in school. This isn't even high school.
