In anticipation of snow storms, some locals are stocking up on winter supplies.
In addition to buying salt and sand, many are trying to winterize their homes as well.
After last year's road salt shortage, many locals are stocking up on winter supplies.
"Last year I was kind of late in getting salt, so this year I'm stocking up a bit before the strom hits us. Hopefully we can be prepared for it this time," said Ryan Letourneau.
"We've had a large influx of customers coming into the store, mainly to grab salt, grab shovels, grab de-icers, those types of products," said Nathan Drum, Lowe's Operations Manager.
"In addition to salt and shovels, many locals are also getting sand bags for the winter season.
"Well I have a little S-10 and winter's coming and we have a storm on the way, so I wanted to get a little weight in the back of my truck," said Letourneau.
The sandbags are to keep Ryan's Chevy from driving off of the road. To keep his residents safe, Maurice Alouan stocks up on salt for his properties. He owns an apartment complex in West Peoria.
"Typically we go through 1000 pounds a year . . . depends on how bad the ice is," said Maurice Alouan.
In addition to salt, this hardware store has also seen people seeking other products to winterize their homes.
"We try to keep our house as insulated as best we can and to fill any cracks with insulation spray and foam and what not," said Letourneau.
Due to past winter seasons, Central Illinois Residents are preparing for this year's snow storm to come.

idk, we got 11 inches for a 3 day storm total and major blizzard conditions over in northwestern illinois. There was a Wind gust of 65 mph, and 3 inches of snow on the 7th, 5 inches on the 8th, and 3 inches on the 9th. The forecast was 8-15", so it was pretty accurate.
