Mitsubishi motors sales for November dropped nearly 25 percent from last year, according to number released today by the company.

That goes along with declining sales for the company for all of 2009.

The company's car sales are down for the year a total of over 46-percent.

In addition, sales of the cars made at the company's plant in Normal are down a larger percentage than the company's import models.

The Lancer remains the company's most popular model.

The normal plant now makes the Galant sedan, Eclipse Coupe, Eclipse Spyder convertible and Endeavor crossover

I believe Mitsubishi is just waiting it out until next year before closing the doors at the Normal plant permanently. This is the only Japanese Union plant in the United States and this could be the reason it cannot partner or aligned themselves with any other Auto manufacturers. All the new plants are built in non-union southern states.

Things are never going to get better there until the management in Japan puts new models in the plant. There is only so much milk you can get out of a dead cow. The Union gave up a whole lot last contract, and to see the company doing nothing with their opportunity is distressing. As one who retired from Mitsu I wish them well. All of our lives depend on its success. I hope the union goes after them and doesn't just wait for the doors to close.

I think you will find that the Factory PR news wire was slightly misleading in that it was actually a 24.4 percent drop from Oct. 2009, not Nov. 2008.
