Family House Brings a Taste of Christmas

Area families gathered to get a taste of Christmas while supporting an organization that gives other families a home away from home during rough times.

The Family House has helped the families of hospital patients by giving them housing at a low rate for the past 25 years.

To raise money for this service, the group held their eighth annual Christmas Magic, fundraiser that provides a little taste of Christmas. Even Santa Claus showed up for the day.

Organizers say they are not letting the economy ruin their Christmas goal. The Executive Director Peggy Murphy said, "we haven't got quite as many people this year as last year, but I have to say we have a giving community, and they always seem to step up and so they have provided support. We hope when they will look again to us this year and help us in many ways to keep our business going."

The Family House says this certain benefit normally raises about $20,000 and hopes to be close to that goal.
