Chase Suspects Still In Jail

The men who lead police on a chase Monday that ended up in the river are both still behind bars. One made a court appearance on Tuesday.

Seventeen-year-old Mark Turner of Pekin is being held on $50,000 bond for possession of anhydrous ammonia. He is the man who returned to shore after the car entered the river. The charges of burglary and criminal trespass against him were dropped.

Turner was one of the two men who fled from police in South Pekin where the they allegedly stole anhydrous ammonia to make meth.

Thirty six-year-old Aaron Slaughter of Peoria is being held in jail. Slaughter was found Monday evening hiding in a friend's attic in Peoria.

He's booked at the Tazewell county jail on transportation of anhydrous ammonia, tampering with anhydrous ammonia, criminal trespass and aggravated fleeing police. Slaughter will face a judge Wednesday afternoon.
