Truck Driver Killed While Loading Steel

A Wyoming man has died after an industrial accident on Friday. The Peoria County Coroner says 48-year old Carl Ziemer died Friday evening at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center after an accident at G&D Transportation in Morton.

The coroner says Ziemer was a driver for Brubaker Trucking in Goodfield. He had just delivered a load of steel to the Morton company. A fork lift was being used to transfer the load when for an unknown reason the load shifted and the steel fell on Ziemer pinning him underneath.

An autopsy Saturday revealed Ziemer died from crushing injuries to the pelvis and legs. Morton police and the Coroner's office are continuing their investigation.

Carl was a great guy. My condolences to his family. It is too bad that this company is allowed to continue conducting business without regard to safety.
