Republican Candidate for Governor Bill Brady is calling for tax credits and cuts to help bring jobs to Illinois. The State Senator from Bloomington was in downtown Peoria Monday talking with Caterpillar workers about this jobs plan.
CAT has cut thousands of employees in the last year, and Brady says the state has lost 700,000 jobs in the last decade. He says Illinois ranks 48th in the nation in economic development.
"We're calling for a billion dollars in tax cuts. Cut the double tax penalty on sales tax on families and businesses. Cut the $300 million tax and fee increases imposed by Blagojevich and Quinn, which were swept away as unconstitutional. And, cut the estate tax penalty which moves retirees out of our state," Brady says.
He also wants to give businesses a tax credit for each new job that's created.
"Some say how do you pay for it. Pretty easy, the average job brings with it $4200 in revenue to the state, giving back $2100 in an annual incentive for the first year only is a great business investment for the citizens of Illinois," Brady says.
Brady is also calling for 10% cuts across the board to help balance the state's badly bleeding budget.
Brady is the only downstate gubernatorial candidate in the seven-person Republican primary in February. This is Brady's second attempt at the state's top seat.
