Blue Ribbons go to Chillicothe Girl Battling Cancer

A Chillicothe family is receiving a helping hand from dozens of parents, students and staff at Mossville Elementary School.

More than 50 people spent their Sunday afternoon making light blue ribbons to sell throughout the IVC school district tomorrow.
The proceeds from the one dollar ribbon sale will go to Lexi Helfrich, a Chillicothe 9-year-old battling cancer.

Tomorrow the family will head to Chicago for a procedure they hope will save Lexi's life.

"We're going to make large ribbons to go on all the businesses and light poles," Gayle Rundall, girls basketball coach, said. "Tonight our parents are going to help us. We are very lucky to have good support people, people that helped arrange all of this in our community and they will come help us blanket the town light-blue so when she leaves town tomorrow she can see the support she has."

Light blue is Lexi's favorite color.

If you'd like to support the family, the light-blue ribbons will also be sold at the Chillicothe Kroger from 10 in the morning until two tomorrow afternoon.
