Hundreds of area residents broke bread, gave thanks and honored a local man for his service today at the 34th annual Community Thanksgiving Luncheon.
The luncheon, sponsored by the Peoria Chamber of Commerce, highlights one Tri–county resident with the Tom Connor award.
This year the award, named for the former community volunteer and News Director of WEEK, went to Tim Cassidy for his longtime work on the Peoria Park District Board.
Tom Connor Award Winner Tim Cassidy says, "Well I'm feeling quite honored but very humbled. I mean to be fortunately recognized individually for things that were really accomplished by many and that's truly humbling."
The Tom Connor Award is sponsored by Mass Mutual Financial Group.
The Community Wealth Award went to South Side Mission.
