Investigators tonight are searching for clues to the cause of a fire Thursday morning that killed a 55–year–old Peoria man.

Firefighters were called to 2408 Monroe Street shortly after six a.m.
Coroner Johnna Ingersol says Terry L. Stewart lived at the residence alone.

It is reported that Stewart's son visited his father Wednesday night and received a phone call from Stewart about 2 hours before the 911 call was made.

Family members say Stewart was drinking last night and dealt with a lung disease. Firefighters found a home oxygen tank in the living room, where the fire was burning.

Peoria County Fire Division Chief Greg Walters says most of the fire was contained to the living room, but he says there was heat and smoke damage throughout the house.

The victim's cause of death will be released after Friday's autopsy.

How would all of you feel if God forbid you lost a relative and people trash talked them? SHOW SOME COMPASSION! a family lost a father. I am not a terribly religious person. i am not going to preach about prayer. I am asking all of you to simply think of your fellow human being. Remember the loss of someone you loved. the comment you think is funny or clever is probably not so funny to his family.

You people are completely insane. You never have anything positive to say. Maybe you should just say nothing at all. My heart goes out to this family. I do know the son and I will be praying for them. No matter what the cause is in this case; the effect is more serious! Grow up people and keep your mouths shut. (quit commenting) He is with God now and better off than all of us here on earth; where Hell happens every second of everyday! To the family: God Bless and You are in my prayers.

I read comments all the time on here. People simply amaze me, so negative and have no clue what they are talking about. Its sad people have nothing better to do then talk about people. Maybe you should think about what you say before you say it.

SAD SAD SAD, i bet most of the ppl making rude comments here are smokers as well, u better hope u never have to b w/an oxygen tank next to you or in a place filled with natural gas when u light up, then others can make rude remarks about ur passing like u r about this poor man. Hope u all feel stupid when its found that the cause of the accident was not related to smoking.

Disconnect the oxygen tank before you try and smoke the cigarettes that put you on oxygen to begin with.
