Postcards From Home

By WEEK Producer

It's an ill wind that blows no good, meaning something good will follow even the worst disaster.

In tonight's Postcard from Home, Bob Jacobs takes us to a town that suffered a terrible calamity more than a decade ago. It is now coming back, and in the middle of town is a vibrant symbol of rebirth.

The Palm Café is located in the heart of downtown Canton.

Another wonderful wine dinner on Jan 27th! Lots of great wine, food and fun. I absolutely fell in love with the bruschetta. Can't wait till the next one!

Oh, for the good old days when Heidi and Gary were here in CA. We miss those dinners at their place. Canton, you are so lucky!

This is - far and away - our favorite restaurant in Central Illinois. Every time we go, we feel like we've been transported to some chichi little California restaurant... WITHOUT the "chichi" price. Gary always makes you feel like family. And Heidi never disappoints with those goodies that come out of that kitchen. Just made a reservation to go this week with friends. Yummmmm! Can't wait. It is well worth the drive from Peoria.

The Palm is delightful! It is casual but at the same time elegant...great food, great wait staff, and it's nice to support people who support their community as Heidi and Gary do. We dined there on 11/14. Both the steak and the salmon (with a fabulous cranberry sauce!)were great but I'll never forget the tomato bisque soup. Unbelievable! These people work with only fresh ingredients, and it shows. Great job Palm, and see you soon!

We have been to The Palm on several occasions, and each time it has been nothing short of a culinary delight. Everything -- wine, appetizers, main dishes, desserts -- is prepared and presented with great care and displays a flair rarely seen in Central Illinois.
