Preservative Free H1N1 Virus

In the last five years it has become easier for parents to get vaccines for their children that do not contain the preservative thimerasol (mercury.) Many of the routine childhood immunizations do not contain it anymore or are readily available in a thimerasol free form. However, this is not true for the H1N1 vaccine. Pregnant women who want a thimerasol-free version of the vaccine are most likely out of luck. Take a look at the controversy by checking out the latest post on NewsAnchorMom.

Uh, not exactly..."Some vaccine manufacturers will be producing 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine in single-dose units, which will not require the use of thimerosal as a preservative. In addition, the live-attenuated version of the vaccine, which is administered intranasally (through the nose), is produced in single-units and will not contain thimerosal." http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/thimerosal_qa.htm
