Video Poker gambling in Illinois is now legal but, some counties are choosing not to participate.
According to legislators Video Poker is looked at as a significant portion of revenue for Illinois to move forward with the Capitol Program.
However, not every county in Illinois wants video poker to be readily available in their communities.
The video poker bill gives Illinois counties the option of opting out.
State Representative Jehan Gordon says, "Areas like Tazewell County Peoria County are talking about the legislation and what should happen in terms of them as a county just opting out...DuPage County which is I believe the second largest county in the state and DuPage County has opted out already."
DuPage County isn't the only one opting out...Lake and Cook County have as well.
If Tazewell County decides to opt out some bars may be in trouble.
Owner of Carrigan's Pub in East Peoria - Annetta Carrigan - says she's been in the business for 25 years and if they don't let her have video poker she doesn't think her bar will make it.
