Vigil Held for Murdered 16-Year-Old

A memorial service was held tonight in Peoria for Derome Brown, the 16- year-old boy gunned down last Friday.

Brown was shot in the back near the intersection of Blaine and Butler streets as he walked home about 8:00 pm.

At the Cornerstone Baptish Church this evening, Derome Brown was remembered by relatives and fellow students and the principal of Manual High School.

Brown's funeral will be Friday in Chicago.

I too feel for any family when a 16 yr. old gets gunned down. However, why was he hanging out with a 22 yr. old. The lives of a 22 yr. old and a 16 yr. old are worlds apart. Also, why is the newspaper and T.V. using a pic of this kid from (what looks like) the 7th grade. During the story on the news it shows his H.S. yearbook pic. Is someone trying to make him out to be an angel when "maybe" there was more going on. Time will tell.
