The parents of Peoria's 11th murder victim speak out today.
A 16-year-old boy was gunned down Friday night in the 1700 block of West Butler.
The parents of Derome Brown are grieving, just days after he was killed walking home from a friend's house.
Their biggest questions are...Who did it? And Why?
Police are still investigating the shooting death of Derome Brown.
The teen was shot in the back after authorities say he walked past a group of people near the intersection of Butler and Blaine around 8 Friday night.
"No arrests, no suspect, so we really ain't got too much to go on as far as what really happened," says Cooper.
Raymond Cooper and Tanisha Jackson say they were at home Friday evening waiting for Derome to get home from visiting a friend.
"We both were at the window the same time it happened. We did hear the shots," says Cooper.
Cooper says they quickly got dressed and ran down the street to make sure their 13-year-old was okay. He was at a basketball game.
"Come back, get a voicemail that our other son had been shot," says Cooper.
The couple says they were shocked to hear the news, after having spoken to Derome just hours earlier.
"Bout five something that evening," says Cooper. "Next time I seen him, he's up on a slab dead."
They say they can't imagine who would hurt the 16-year-old high school junior, as he was generally open with his parents about problems.
Furthermore, they say aside from playing basketball, he was generally a homebody.
"Bout seven o'clock, seven-thirty, he's back at the house in his room playing the game or on the phone," says Cooper. "One or the two."
More than anything, Derome's parents say they're seeking justice and closure.
"Somebody was behind that gun that killed him. All I do want is some answers," says Cooper.
"I just know whoever did this to my baby, I wish they would come forward, because what they took from me was my baby. That was my baby," says Tanisha Jackson, Derome's mother.
Family members say Derome Brown's body has been transported to his hometown of Chicago...it's also where the funeral services with be held.
Derome's parents hope to hold a memorial service for his friends and classmates at Manual High School.
