Army Pfc. Devin J. Michel, 19, of Stockton, Ill., died Oct. 24, 2009 in Zhari province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

The Department of Defense has identified an Army soldier from Illinois who died in a bombing earlier this month.

Private first class Devin J. Michel of Stockton, Illinois died October 24th in Afghanistan. The soldier died from wounds suffered when his unit was attacked with an improvised explosive device.

He was 19 years old. October has been the deadliest month in Afghanistan since U-S forces invaded after 9-11.
