Shot Shortage Leads To Canceled Clinics

By Jeff Muniz

The Tazewell County Health Department has run out of the H1N1 vaccine as it waits on its next shipment. That means the clinic scheduled for Monday at LaSalle School in Creve Coeur is canceled.

The Health Department is still scheduled to have clinics on Thursday in East Peoria at Lincoln School and next Saturday again at the Health Department as long as it receives a new shipment.

McLean County also has its second clinic scheduled for this week. That will be on Thursday afternoon at the Interstate Center.

The clinics are only open to those considered in the priority group from the CDC.

Peoria County has not received any doses and will not have a clinic in October.

What is wrong with some of you? It's not bubble gum they're making, it's a vaccine and a new one at that, ok? I think it's going well (better than expected) considering everything.

How is it that mclean county is waiting on its third shipment and Tazwell has had at least two clinics and Peoria has gotten NO shipments?!

Why is it that Peoria County hasn't gotten ANY shipments yet? Mclean county is looking for its third!

Who benefits from creating this supply and demand situation? If it's so important then why aren't these shots free and readily available?

I would say YES it is the gov. fault! they should of made sure this was manufactured before hand so there wouldnt be any shortages!

Yes the government has known, and has to wait on the vaccine to be manufactured. They dont just pull it out of their arses. Add the fact that people that dont need it and aren't on the priority list are taking it from the people who really need it and its all the governments fault right?

Wow. The government has known about this threat for how long??? I cannot wait until they are in charge of our healthcare.
