Ride To Remember

By Jeff Muniz

A long line of motorcyclists made their way through the streets of Central Illinois Saturday to say thanks to those who paid the ultimate price. The Inaugural Phillip Pannier Fallen Hero's Memorial Ride wound its way through a dozen communities.

The riders stopped at the grave sites of 10 area service members killed in the line of the duty in Iraq or Afghanistan. Phillip Pannier from Washburn along with two other soldiers were killed in Iraq in January of 2008.

After the ride, there was dinner, dancing and at an auction at the Roanoke American Legion. All the money raised goes to the "Wounded Warrior Project".

There were 72 bikes, 23 cars and one semi-truck that participated in the ride.
