Social service groups spent months worrying about whether or not their state aid would be restored, and today, one agency's employees are breathing sighs of relief.
Neville House- Countering Domestic Violence is a 24 hour shelter and hotline for domestic violence victims.
The director says earlier this summer, they were told the state would cut 60 percent of their funding...but last week, they found out it will only be 10 percent.
Deborah White says it's bitter-sweet.
"It still is a cut, we still have to reduce line items, we still have to diversify our funding sources and secure other revenue, absolutely. But we do not have to close our Neville House doors, so that is such a relief that we can concentrate on providing those quality comprehensive services", said Deborah White, Countering Domestic Violence Program Director.
She says due to the 10 percent reduction, their weekly support groups will become monthly, and they must find another way to pay for their educational groups.
White says they also had to lay-off one full time employee.
