Pekin Police Discover Meth Lab

Pekin Police have two people in custody after a patrol officer noticed what smelled like a working Meth Lab early Wednesday morning.

33–year–old Amy Wood and 35–year–old Joshua DuPage were arrested in their home at 2–0–1 Herget Street in Pekin.

Authorities recovered remnants of a recent meth lab they believe may have been discarded moments earlier.

Deputy Chief Greg Nelson says although occasional meth labs pop up, the situation is not as dire in Pekin as it was years ago.

Pekin Police Department Deputy Chief Greg Nelson says, "While there has been a slight increase in the meth activity compared to what it was six years ago, we're way ahead of where we were then, because now we're getting it at the first part rather than the last part."

DuPage and Wood are charged with Aggravated Participation in Methamphetamine Manufacturing, a class X felony which could carry a sentence of six to 30 years in prison.

Police also removed five children from the home, and reported the case to D–C–F–S.

Just to clarify... I married into this family. Penny has been sober and clean for 8 years. I see her every week. She is an amazing woman. She has amazing faith and determination. She has shown me that if you believe hard enough that you can do something, you can do it. She has come a long way and is a totally different person now. Whatever Amy was doing in her own home was unknown to us and most of the family. Her home is her business and Panny had no knowledge of this.

This is very sad...leave this family alone. Have you never heard "He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone"? This is found in John chapter 8, verse 7 in the Bible. Whoever suggested that the apple doesn't fall from the tree needs to put the past in the past and leave it there. Penny has recently celebrated her 6th year of being sober! She is an amazing and awesome woman to get where she is today. Amy has alot of people praying for her and her family. She will be ok.
