Dream Home Makeover

One deserving family in central Illinois is getting a brand new home courtesy of ABC's reality television show Extreme Makeover Home Edition and Brady Homes.

Five families around the Bloomington-Normal Champaign area were chosen, b ut Ty Pennington will surprise only one on August 18th.
These families were deemed "Heroes in the Community" and deserving of a new home.

Like the house built in Pekin last fall by a different builder, this house will be built in only seven days. The normal time frame to build a house is four months. Two thousand skilled workers and two thousand volunteers will work around the clock to finish the job.

"Because that's what its all about. When people give back to the community as these folks have you certainly want to give a helping hand back to them because they've made some sacrifices," said Bob Brady, co-owner of Brady Homes.

Brady says building a home in seven days is no small task. Local businesses and sponsors will donate all of the materials. Construction begins on the twenty first.

Thats part of life its not fair. And the part that is really not fair is that they take people as the ones in pekin who had a nice home with everything that worked torn it all down to build a huge one. Why not take all that wasted money and instead of one new insanely big house help out 5or10 people improve there house that is unsafe. But there you have it again lifes not fair. All those people could be helped instead of one by fixing some of each instead all of one getting a NEW home! thats lif

"Five families around the Bloomington-Normal Champaign area were chosen, but..." That seems particularly cruel to the other four families if they're just as deserving as the one chosen.
