The Ronald McDonald House received a nice donation, all from the sale of Happy Meals.

Ronald entertained some kids from many Boys and Girls Clubs in Central Illinois at Lakeview Museum before the big check presentation was made.

This is the 30th anniversary for the Happy Meal and area McDonald's restaurant owners and operators decided to give a nickel of every
happy meal sold to the Ronald McDonald House.

More than 900–thousand Happy meals were sold in 6–months meaning a 47–thousand dollar donation.

The Ronald McDonald House is a place where a family can stay when their child is sick in the hospital.

"To be able to provide them with a place to stay and the food they need so they can devote all their love and support to that child getting better that's what's so important to us and it why the Ronald McDonald House is so important," said Bob Witter with Ronald McDonald House Charities.

"This was just another way for the operators and all the customers to help with the Ronald expenses and that," said Bob Dobski, McDonald's owner/operator.

The Ronald McDonald Charities will be opening family suites in the new OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria in 2010.
