Many Ameren customers were left without power Tuesday morning in the wake of a severe thunderstorm.

Ameren–Cilco reported approximately ten–thousand customers in Pekin were without power at one point.

Currently several hundred throughout Central Illinois remain in the dark.
The torrential rain, destructive winds and frequent lightning at one point
stretched from Princeton south to Morton. This video is from East Peoria.

Many trees lost branches or were uprooted.

The National Weather Service reported severe thunderstorms producing winds over 60 miles an hour.
