The former Peoria Chiefs pitcher who threw a ball into the stands in Dayton, Ohio last year has been convicted of felonious assault.

A judge today found 22–year–old Julio Castillo guilty of doing serious physical harm.

A brawl broke out at a Peoria–Dayton game in July of last year.
Castillo threw a ball toward the Dayton dugout, but it sailed into the stands and hit a spectator, who wound up with a concussion.

Castillo's attorney had argued that the pitcher did not intend to harm anyone.

The judge found Castillo NOT guilty of using a deadly weapon.

The felonious assault conviction could bring up to eight years in prison.
Castillo is set for sentencing on Thursday.
