Errant Firework Injures Four

An errant firework at a show on Lake Camelot Sunday night injured four people in the crowd. Authorities say it happened around 9:30 p.m. just before the grand finale of the show near Bartonville.

The Fire Captain on the scene says the errant firework veered into the crowd gathered on the hill of the clubhouse, which was 300 feet away. Captain Jeff DeSanty says that's a required safe distance according to the State Fire Marshal.

DeSanty says S&N Fireworks out of Lincoln is looking into why the "cake" firework malfunctioned. Authorities called the burn injuries minor and all were treated at the scene.

I wrote earlier that I an idiot in the crowd lit off a firework and that is how the accident happened but I was incorrect and I will be the first to admit being there that when I saw fireworks coming from behind me I never imagined it would be from across the lake . . Lake Camelot has made a statment and the Firework Company has taken responsibilty - that is enough for me and I hope that the people that got hurt get better soon!

3 people went to the hospital and were treated and released. At least the burns should hear and nobody was critically hurt.
