East Peoria Invasion

By WEEK Producer

And, if you were in East Peoria Wednesday night you might have thought it was a plague of locusts.

We shot some video at a gas station in East Peoria, where thousands of mayflies have landed on just about anything and everything.
People were stopping to take pictures of the bugs.
Mayflies breed in water.and we've had a lot of it this year.
The good news, for us, not them, is that mayflies don't live very long.

It was an amazing site as I came across the bridge down the hill from the journal star on rte 150. It looked like a snow blizzard coming at you. The bugs were everywhere and were all over the bridge. Cars were slowing down as the bugs hit the winshield
