The Center for Prevention of Abuse may be dealing with state funding losses but one local foundation is offering a little help.

The Center for Prevention of Abuse received a 5 thousand dollar grant today from the Illinois Bar Foundation.

The donation will support a legal advocate for those seeking orders of protection from domestic abusers.

"To assist domestic violence victims in getting orders of protection and obtaining relief from domestic violence situations, obviously this has made a big difference in making that available," said Richard Zuckerman with Illinois Bar Foundation.

The foundation chose to give this grant because of the difficult experience abuse victims face in getting help.

Last year, the Illinois Bar Foundation gave more than 300 thousand dollars to agencies across the state in an effort to pursue criminal justice.
