The American Red Cross Central Illinois Chapter is making it easy for people to drive sober this fourth of July.

The Red Cross, IDOT, and Baumgarten Distributing are teaming up with several local bars to offer free nonalcoholic beverages to designated drivers.

Some of the participating locations include, In Bartonville: BG Karaoke Saloon, in West Peoria: Crusens, In Pekin: Goodfellas Pub, and Jac's Doghouse, in Peoria: Kelleher's Irish Pub, and Sully's Pub, and In East Peoria: TNT's.

The Red Cross says the goal is to get people home safely after the celebration is over.

Don't all the places listed above also serve food?!?! Do you have to be 21 to eat there as well? At least someone is taking responsibility and making sure their loved ones are making it home safely. Good for you!

absolutly not! No one under 21 should be in a bar unless they are 21. Thats nice you want to be a DD, but drop em off and come back! Just because you are doing the right thing does not allow you to break the law!

Yeah so I was the DD for my boyfriend while he went out to this bar in Creve Couer and I wasn't allowed in even though I told the bartender I am the DD and there were only 2 people in the bar facing the bartender the whole time. So basically I had to leave the bar and come back to pick him up. Honestly if you're under 21 and being the DD you should be allowed in bars. What was sad was even the bartenders were drinking and getting drunk while on their shift. Good to know.
