Minimum wage in the state of Illinois is on the rise, again.

As of today, workers over the age of 18 will make at least 8 dollars an hour.

Former Governor Rod Blagojevich signed a law in 2006 mandating wages increase one quarter annually for three years.

The increase will put an extra 500 dollars into the pockets of full-time employees.

The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce says the reaction to the increase is mixed.

"It can have both a positive impact on the overall community because you have people who are earning more so they have more money to spend, but you also have businesses who are earning less or are trying to pass that cost along." says Roberta Parks.

The Illinois Department of Labor says there are 390,000 minimum wage workers in the state.

This is life. We all have to deal with it. There is a way to reduce the chances of not losing your job.......go to school and get a degree. I am not trying to argue or make this something big but....come on.....it is common sense.
