How to Save on Phone Bills

Tools

By Cyreia Sandlin

Consumers are catching a break on their phone bills thanks to help from the Citizen's Utility Board.

CUB is a non–profit group that researches hundreds of phone plans and determines how the average person can save money on their monthly bill.

One of the unique services offered by the group is the cell phone cost cutter.

CUB representative Bryan McDaniel said to use this tool simply, "Download a PDF of your online bill onto our website, it will analyze it within seconds and it will tell you if there are cheaper plans in your carrier or cheaper plans within other carriers."

Consumers came out in large numbers today to get free one–on–one advice from a representative, and saved an average of 15 dollars each.

As a whole the Citizen Utility Board says it has saved Illinois citizens more than $10 billion on gas, electric and phone bills.
