Illinois House Approved Two Billion Dollar Loan

The Illinois House wants to borrow $2.3 billion to help piece together a new state budget.

The House voted 101-7 on Monday for a plan to borrow the money
for five years.

It would be used to reduce budget cuts for local agencies that provide social services for the state.

Critics say the move might help this year but it would just
create a bigger hole in the next budget.

The plan now goes to the Senate.

If it's approved, the borrowing would not be enough to balance
the state budget. Officials would still have to cut spending or
raise taxes.

Wendy - single moms shouldn't have got into that situation.....should have protected themselves. Instead they made a bad decision and expect someone to bail them out.

if your only car broke down and the repair bill was $1500, i am sure you could find the money somehow to fix your car. same goes with these state handouts IMO. if the state took your financial gravy train away, i am sure you and everyone else could figure SOMETHING OUT if you had to. the evidence is clear - THIS COUNTRY CANT CONTINUE TO SPEND MONEY LIKE THIS. either find a way do it on your own, or keep your legs closed and stop making us responsible citizens pay for kids you cant afford.

thats the problem with the world today everyone thinks the government should hand them money, pay my bills, help me out. If you don't like the way the gov is ran run for office and make a difference that way. I am not in office and think they do a terrible job managing it but don't ask for handouts.

What about the single mamas out there working their tales off?!?Without childcare connection we are screwed. Society wants us to be self-sufficient. How can we do that if childcare is cut? Those deciding our fate have not had to ask for subsidized help to survive. Their paychecks qualify them for a private pay situation. God, give those making this budget wisdom and compassion. They are elected officials. How can they do this?
