Fire Claims Kep's Place

For the second time this week, a popular hang–out place in a local town burns down. A fire Sunday morning claims Kep's Place in Washington.

Authorities say they received a call around nine in the morning.
By the time firefighters arrived a few minutes later, fire fully engulfed the bar and grill on Muller Road.

It took crews until about two this afternoon to get the blaze out.

Washington Deputy Police Chief Don Volk said, "It was a very popular place. The good thing is it was Sunday morning when nobody was in the building and at least nobody was harmed in it."

The State Fire Marshal has been called to inspect the building, which police say is a total loss. Right now, the cause is not known.

Keps Co-Owner Elizabeth Barry said "We honestly have no idea. I closed last night and I worked until three. When we closed, we closed just the way we did any other time, turn all the lights off, checked everything, locked the doors."

Barry says she and her fiancé took over the bar and a grill a year and a half ago after the previous owner died.

She says they hope to rebuild and have a bigger and better Kep's Place.

I have to agreee with the comment on drunks. Everytime I went in there people where wasted and still getting served. One of my friends works for state police say they have arrested on many of times people who drank there. I hope Keps re-opens nut the staff need to cut off drunks in there. But.... Not Keps fault if a moron gets behind a wheel and drives drunk.

Kep's place was amazing. I know there are many local people that would support a rebuild. It was definitely the place to go!

I am a recovering alcoholic and I think Keps was a great place for friends and family to just go and enjoy yourselves. Whoever wrote "good" is a freaking moron and the lord will later judge them!!!!!!!

THE PERSON THAT WROTE, "GOOD! ONE LESS DRUNK DRIVER ON THE ROAD." HAS TO BE A COMPLETE IDIOT. IN THIS ECONOMY, WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WANTS TO SEE ANYBODY LOSE THEIR BUSINESS? THIS PERSON NEEDS THEIR HEAD EXAMINED.

Anonymous: It isn't Keps fault for drunk drivers. It is the responsibility of the driver himself / herself. Making a comment of "good" on an establishment that truly is a nice place is just plain dumb. Keps held many fundraisers and sponsored many sports teams. It isn't just a bar / grill that is gone, but peoples jobs and families that are affected.

It wasn't just a bar. It was a sports bar and grill. One that had a good name for itself. It held several birthday parties and wedding receptions. They had very good food. The owners are in our thoughts. Glad nobody was hurt.
