The budget battle is back this week in Springfield. State lawmakers return to the Capitol on Tuesday for a special session to deal with the state's budget mess.
Goveror Pat Quinn wants lawmakers to vote as soon as Wednesday on an income tax increase to avoid massive budget cuts. He says the budget lawmakers passed before adjourning their spring session will force $9.2 billion in cuts, many to human service agencies.
Republican legislative leaders have said before an income tax increase is considered more work needs to be done on state spending and government efficiencies.A new budget year starts July 1st.

I agree. I think we should all take some mirrors down to Springfield. Maybe then these white wigs will finally start looking at themselves. So many people rely on the human services because it is their only hope. If we take these programs away, who can they look to then? Maybe then the politicians can foot the bill from their own pockets via campaign donations.

Being a parent of autisic twin daughters and my one daughter being place at a children's residential center this is of great concern to my whole family. Many of the children where my child attends have NO ONE. What is going to happen to all the disabled in this state that desperately need the services that DHS funding provides. My heart goes out to all those that desperately need the help. I hope the lawmakers of the state of Illinois comes to their senses before we have a BIGGER problem!
