It was just an ordinary Flag Day for Phillip and Beverly Smallwood.
They began their day by putting up flags in their yard...one of them the American flag to honor our country.
However, as they were outside admiring their flags the couple looked down the street to find their neighbor Ron Wolf had put up a Nazi flag with the image of a swastika.
Nazi Flag Displayer Ron Wolf says "You know I don't mean any harm towards anyone. I encourage to get along and you know our differences is what makes us strong and that's why the United States won because of our diversity and if it wasn't for like I said the veterans that fought it wouldn't be well I wouldn't be able to have the right to display things like that."
War Veteran Phillip Smallwood says, "I won't say what I thought but to me it's an insult to every man and woman that has ever served in the United States military forces."
Wolf says he's not trying to promote hate violence or racism despite what his neighbors may believe.
Nazi Flag Displayer Ron Wolf says, "Practicing my First Amendment no matter how ignorant it may seem for me to display a Nazi flag in my yard I feel that in my point of view I represent it for the what I see out of it the symbol I like it, I like the beauty of it although it was used for a very negative purpose."
The Smallwood's say the flag disgraces the neighborhood.
I asked Wolf if he'd take the flag down any time soon...he says he's thought about it but he wants to exercise his freedom of speech.
We contacted the Creve Coeur Police Department and the sergeant on duty says Wolf has every right to display his flag.

The NSDAP flag is a beautiful design, its very intimidating to. Yes it's a symbol of a failed Nation, but I don't see a problem in Ron exercising his right of freedom of expression. I fly the Third National Flag of the Confederacy in my yard, I'm a police officer and surely NOT racist.
