By WEEK Producer

An inmate escapes from the Marshall County Jail Saturday night.
And, it took authorities nearly 20 hours to find him. An inmate escaped from the jail Saturday night but was found just before 5:30 Sunday evening after receiving a tip that he was hiding in a garage just north of he jail.
38-year-old Daniel Clift had been missing since 8-45 last night.
Police say Clift was out of his cell to use the phone when he ran through the booking room, down the hall and out the door. Marshall County Sheriff Rob Russell stated, " It's unknown. It's under investigation at this time. It's a fluke thing. We haven't had one of these here in recent memory."
Officers from Marshall County, Lacon, Henry, State Police and two K-9 Units have been combing the area since. Clift had been held at the jail since mid-March as he awaits trial. He was behind bars for allegedly violating of an order of protection. He will be in tormorrow on escaped charges.

I feel the guards should not be at blame and this guy Daniel just had a lucky moment and used it to his advantage.

I know the inmate that took off from the jail and the jailer that was on duty that night .. there was trust there and danny broke that it aint the jailers fault . you know even inmates can be treated like human beings and thats what the jailer was doing for danny so if you dont know what when on that night you shouldnt run your mouths on here or anywhere else for that matter

"he ran through the booking room, down the hall and out the door" I would not exactly call that escaping, I would call it negligence. I am sure Mr.Cliff saw it as opportunity.
